The new 850,000 square foot Islip Federal Courthouse is a major landmark. A highly visible, free-standing structure on an open campus of public buildings, the courthouse contains 23 district courtrooms, 6 magistrate courtrooms, and 10 bankruptcy courtrooms, complemented by full court support functions. As judicial consultants to the construction quality management (CQM) team led by Lehrer McGovern Bovis, RicciGreene's first role was to review the program and progress of the design work for adherence to the U.S. Courts Design Guide, the GSA Standards for Courthouses, and current practice in judicial design.

RicciGreene was subsequently selected by GSA to complete micro-programming and furniture and power layouts for the court-related spaces. The firm was instrumental in promoting functional efficiency and appropriate operational features in the design through our role as advisor to GSA.
