The design of the new annex to the existing U.S. Courthouse in the nation's capitol is a significant new landmark along "America's Main Street"-Pennsylvania Avenue. The DC Circuit is unique in that all elements of the US Courts system are housed within one structure, including the entire circuit.

RicciGreene Associates, as a Consultant to Michael Graves / SHG Architects, developed the program which called for the addition of nine new district courtrooms and chambers, and four new circuit chambers as well as office space convertible to courtrooms all located in the annex. The existing courthouse will be renovated after completion of the annex. The project is programmed and designed in metric units. The final size of the project is over 850,000 SF.
